GRANT COMMUNITY SCHOOL

Grant Community School is a dual-language immersion school in Spanish and English. This means that the students receive instruction in both English and Spanish and are working towards being both bilingual and bi-literate. Part of their class days are spent with teaching being done completely in English and part of their class days are spent with teaching being done solely in Spanish; hence the term immersion. The process to become fully bilingual is generally said to take 5 to 8 years. This is the reason Grant has the distinction of being the only K-8th grade school within the Salem-Keizer School District.
